FEEL THE POWER OF THE WIND

SAILING EXPERIENCES

We have set up Kōkōkaha providers around Aotearoa New Zealand to deliver a day long Kōkōkaha sailing experience to classes of up to 30 students. The classroom experiences are free of charge but there is a cost for the sailing experience component of the programme. These vary across the country so you will need to discuss this directly with each provider.

The Kōkōkaha sailing experience typically has two parts although there is flexibility to discuss with your Kōkōkaha provider how you want the day to flow. Most providers will split each group of up to 30 students into two groups. The first group goes sailing to experience the power of the wind while the second group undertake a set of hands-on challenges to introduce them to some of the technologies used in sailing.  The groups swap for the second half of the day. The hands-on challenges are lead by the classroom teacher while the sailing experience is facilitated by Kōkōkaha kaiako.

Please note, due to high demand across Aotearoa New Zealand many of the Kōkōkaha providers are close to full capacity. When you register we will still put you in touch with a Kōkōkaha provider in your area and it may be that they can fit in your request. If this isn't possible you may like to contact your local sailing club or a commercial provider to provide you with a sailing experience instead. A list of clubs and commercial providers is available here. Please note you can still do the classroom learning experiences and participate in the design competition without taking part in the sailing experience.
